The business model of Medicine from Ecchu-Toyama was established, targeting consumers throughout Japan. Traveling salespeople from Toyama would visit customers, leave medicines for a year, and receive payment for the used medicines the following year. |

1921 (Taisho 10) | Toyama Prefectural Vocational School for Pharmacy became Toyama National Vocational School for Pharmacy. |
1949 (Showa 24) | Toyama National Trade School for Pharmacy was restructured as the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toyama. |
1963 (Showa 38) | A research facility for Japanese Kampo Medicines was established as part of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. |
1974 (Showa 49) | The research facility for Japanese Kampo Medicines was upgraded as the Research Institute of Japanese and Kampo Medicines. |
1975 (Showa 50) | The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences was transferred to the newly established Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University and became its Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. |
1978 (Showa 53) | A doctoral course in the Graduate School was established. |
1990 (Heisei 2) | Two new courses, Drug Design and Pharmaceutical Physiology, were introduced. |

2000 (Heisei 12) | A Clinical Pharmacy major was introduced in the Graduate School's Department of Pharmaceutical Research. |
2005 (Heisei 17) | 30-year anniversary of Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University Restructured and reintegrated with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Toyama. Research Institute of Japanese and Kampo Medicines was renamed and opened as the Institute of Natural Medicine |
