Student Support

The university offers various types of support for student lifestyles. For more details on each, visit the pages below on the university website.

Tuition Fees and Tuition Fee Exemptions

The university offers tuition fee exemption and deferral systems for undergraduate and graduate students (except nationally funded international students) for whom there would be difficulties in paying tuition for financial and similar reasons.

Scholarship Systems

The university provides information on a variety of scholarship systems for privately funded international students (except students receiving foreign government scholarships or financial backing from the prefecture) in need of financial assistance. There are two types of scholarships available: scholarships that students apply for through the university, and scholarships that students apply for directly with the scholarship foundation.

Sugitani International House

Sugitani International House was built to provide a place for international students and researchers to live, and to encourage international exchange. It features single rooms, couple rooms, and family rooms for residents, furnished with necessary amenities for everyday life, and with telephone lines available.

Student Dormitory, Apartments, etc.

Shinju-Ryou dormitory is located roughly halfway between the Gofuku and Sugitani campuses, and is operated as a part of the university’s financial support for students. All of the rooms are single rooms, furnished with necessary amenities for everyday life, and equipped with fiber optic internet connections. Applications to live in the dormitory are handled exclusively through the university website and the bulletin board for each faculty.
Information on apartments, condominiums, boardinghouses, etc. is available through the University of Toyama Cooperative Association.

Student Consultation Desks

Each campus has a student consultation desk where students can talk with specialist coordinators about worries they may have regarding their studies, their lifestyle as a student, and more. Coordinators can contact related individuals within and outside of the school as necessary, to provide lifestyle support for students. Parents and guardians can also contact the student consultation desks for consultations.

Health Administration Center

The Health Administration Center features resident clinical psychotherapists (counselors) and nurses. Alongside annual medical checkups every spring and emergency care, the center also offers health consultations with school doctors and psychological counseling for interpersonal relations and other difficulties. In addition, part of the Health Administration Center at each campus offers various measuring instruments, training assistance devices, relaxation equipment, and more for students to use.
